Swiss Diversity is a platform with the vision to promote diversity and inclusion in all its forms. The focus is on the recognition and promotion of equal opportunities for people of different ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, skin colors, social origins, ages, physical and mental conditions and religions. In order to realize our goals, we have created various vessels such as the Award Night, the Forum, the Think Tank and many more. As the Swiss Diversity Association, we stand up for the recognition and promotion of diversity in Swiss society. We are convinced that living diversity and inclusion has a positive effect in all areas of life.

Love Brunch

The Love Brunches, which we organize together with our long-standing partner Coca-Cola Switzerland, take place annually before Zurich Pride. As the largest LGBTIQ+ event in Switzerland, Zurich Pride offers the ideal platform to further address our goals of promoting diversity and inclusion.

The brunch program consists of input presentations and a panel discussion with renowned speakers from politics, business and society on the topics of "All Genders" and "Education". And of course, there will also be a DJ to help you celebrate to the full.

Promoting equal opportunities for all

The kick-off took place at the residence of the Dutch ambassador in Bern. The pictures.

The kick-off of the Swiss Diversity Award association took place on Thursday at the residence of the Dutch ambassador in Bern. The launch of the newly founded association was celebrated in the presence of the Dutch Ambassador Anne Luwema, according to a press release.

"It is of great importance for the Dutch government that we stand up for equal rights at the international level, but we should not limit ourselves to the institutional level," Luwema said during the welcome. "As many people as possible from all levels of society need to get involved to keep the discussion alive."

The Swiss Diversity Award is an association founded by Jazzmin Dian Moore and Michel Rudin, under the auspices of Pink Cross. In Switzerland, the association aims to promote diversity and inclusion in all its forms. The focus is on the preservation and promotion of one of the pillars of human rights, which includes these two values. For this very purpose, an annual event was created to honour people and organisations in their work and activities who have promoted diversity and inclusion.

The first Swiss Diversity Award Gala will take place on 29 September in the Kursaal in Bern and will bring a wide variety of people from politics, business and entertainment into contact with the award winners. (pd/cbe)

DIVERSITY AS A MATTER OF THE HEART

From drag queens to handicapped people to LGBT activists: At the Swiss Diversity Award, people from all walks of life come together. Initiator Michel Rudin explains why this award ceremony is absolutely necessary today.

In Switzerland, a number of individuals, organisations and companies have been committed to promoting and ensuring diversity for years. The Swiss Diversity Award Night has set itself the goal of making these issues public. "The recognition and promotion of equal opportunities for people of different ethnicities, genders, skin colours, disabilities or religions is our motivation," says Michel Rudin, founder of the Swiss Diversity association, which is under the auspices of Pink Cross. And so Swiss Diversity is not just about one particular group. "We fight for the rights of gays and lesbians, are committed to people with disabilities, to gender equality - and much more," says Rudin.

For Michel Rudin, there is no question that an event like the Swiss Diversity Award is still needed today. "We are still a long way from being able to speak of equal rights in society. Unfortunately, misogyny, racism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination are still widespread. "With our event, we want to set an example and bring Switzerland a step forward.

Successful premiere

Although the event is still young, it has already achieved considerable success: At the premiere in autumn 2018, more than 350 guests flocked to the Kursaal in Bern to celebrate the winners of the Swiss Diversity Awards together. The award was given to people who have excelled in their professional or private environment in various categories and projects. "The Diversity Award is intended to honour this work and to give the nominees and winners recognition for their constant commitment to diversity," explains Michel Rudin. Swiss Diversity is therefore much more than just an ordinary gala evening: "At Swiss Diversity, drag queens meet handicapped people, people in evening dress meet LGBT activists. The event brings together the beauty of the individual people and at the same time has a sense of purpose."

Reliant on support

To ensure that the Swiss Diversity Award can continue to be held in the future, the organisers are dependent on support. "JTI's commitment in this regard is exemplary," says Michel Rudin. "The company was open and enthusiastic about the event right from the start. Rudins' goal is for the Swiss Diversity Award to become established in the long term. "The event should become a fixed date in the Swiss event agenda. We are well on our way to achieving this goal."

TOUCHDOWN 21 is nominated for the Swiss Diversity Award

On Saturday 29 September 2018, the first Swiss Diversity Award will be presented in Bern. We are there!

The Swiss Diversity Award is given to projects that have achieved achievements and successes in promoting diversity and inclusion in the past year.
The participatory research project TOUCHDOWN 21 is nominated in the International Award category.
[International means: The project does not come from Switzerland. It comes from another country. Namely from Germany.]

TOUCHDOWN 21 is a participatory research project on Down syndrome.
People with and without Down syndrome deal with the questions:

  • How do people with Down's syndrome live?
  • How did they live in the past?
  • How do they want to live in the future?
  • How do they live in Germany, Switzerland and other countries?
  • What traces have you left behind, in art, in the past?
  • How do they learn and work?
  • What assistance do they need for equal participation in society?

In cooperation with TOUCHDOWN 21 and the Zentrum Paul Klee Bern, the exhibition "TOUCHDOWN. An exhibition with and about people with Down syndrome" was shown.
More than 41,000 people visited it.
People with and without Down's syndrome guided visitors through the exhibition in tandem.

We are very happy about the nomination and will be there in the Bern Kursaal!

From the catwalk to the kitchen: top model Tamy Glauser (35) wields the wooden spoon herself for the Swiss Diversity Awards. Together with the top chefs of the Kursaal in Bern, Glauser created a purely vegan menu - the first menu for a Swiss award show that does completely without animal products. "I wanted to offer the guests the best possible vegan dinner that evening and show them how fine and sexy vegan food can be," Glauser tells BLICK. "That's why I put on the chef's coat and helped to develop the menu from the very beginning."

The President stands in the kitchen

The Bernese is not only responsible for the physical well-being of the guests, but is also the new president of the Swiss Diversity Awards, which will take place for the second time this Saturday. "There is probably no attribute that would describe me better than 'diverse'," explains the androgynous model, who presents both women's and men's fashion on the catwalk. "It is especially important to strengthen diversity in a country, because our society benefits from this diversity," says Glauser. "The Swiss Diversity Award recognises and celebrates the diversity of Switzerland, where people with a wide range of ethnicities, religions, genders, physical limitations or sexual orientations live."

Glauser's partner Dominique Rinderknecht (31) will host the event, which will be held with strict security due to the corona. "Dominique is a great supporter of diversity and has done a lot for the LGBTQ community as the former Miss Switzerland. In addition, we harmonise very well together not only privately but also professionally - even though I am her boss this time," says Glauser with a wink. "And of course she is also my favourite presenter."

"Would probably have become a cook"

Between the awards, the 300 or so guests in the sold-out Kursaal will be entertained with show acts by sports presenter Olivier Borer (38), nude artist Milo Moiré (37) and actress Melanie Winiger (41).

The culinary highlight of the evening will be Glauser's self-created three-course menu, including salad of Sardinian fregola pasta lentils, crispy cauliflower tempura and raspberry mille-feuille with chocolate cream and passion fruit sorbet. "I am already very excited to see how my guests will react. It's an indescribably great feeling when people like the food you've cooked for them," says Glauser, adding: "If there was a vegan cooking apprenticeship, I probably would have become a chef."

  • "Diversity Award" President Tamy Glauser (35) reveals in an interview who will be honoured at this year's event and what will get things rolling.

Tamy, the dress code for Saturday's event is listed as "glamorous" and "diverse". Meaning?

(laughs) The translation is: Come as you like, the main thing is glam.

Why does Switzerland need a Diversity Award?

It's about showing that diversity is something positive and helps us all move forward. It's an image I always have in my head: If I were to sit at a table with five other Tamys, it would be super-boring. The more diverse the characters at my table, the more exciting the conversation becomes.

Who will be honoured on Saturday?

Among others, those who work in and on our society in the background but are not visible. They get a platform and are honoured for their commitment. But all in all, all those who work for diversity.

Do you have a secret nominee crush?

Oops, I have to be diplomatic now. I am extremely pleased that the film "Female Pleasure" by director Barbara Miller is included.

What does the event ideally bring about?

Ideally, those present or watching will be moved to become more engaged in diversity: that they recognise and promote equal opportunities for people of different genders, ethnicities, religions, skin colours and national origins, but also diverse ages and people with disabilities.

There was long speculation, long guesswork: are they or are they not? An intimate embrace between top model Manuela Frey, 24, and YB legend Guillaume Hoarau, 37, after last year's football cup final in Bern had fuelled the rumour mill. Then, exactly one year later, the Aargauer provided clarity: "It's true," she says about the liaison with Hoarau. "We've been together for a year and are very happy." Switzerland had a new dream couple.

Hoarau now plays for FC Sion, making Frey at least temporarily a Wallisian by choice. She lives partly with him in Sion and partly in her parents' house in Brugg AG, the model told "Glückspost". However, the "Switzerland's next Topmodel" presenter did not want to reveal more, even when asked by Schweizer Illustrierte. How and where she and Hoarau met, whether she helped him move from Thun to Valais last summer and what they do together in their free time remain her secrets. You also looked in vain for pictures of both the model and the footballer together on their Instagram accounts.

Now, however, the two lovers officially showed themselves as a couple in public for the first time last weekend. Frey and Hoarau attended the Swiss Diversity Awards in Bern and stood in front of the camera together with model Tamy Glauser and influencer Sylwina Spiess. Later in the evening, during the gala, Frey was allowed to appear as a laudator and present one of the coveted awards.

Floating on cloud nine: Top model Manuela Frey.Instagram/manuelatatjana

Model and presenter Manuela Frey: on a high. She is in love with footballer Guillaume Hoarau and is currently in front of the camera with her TV show "Switzerland's next Topmodel". Now the 24-year-old reveals what's next for her career and whether moving in with her new boyfriend is already on the agenda.

Things are going really well for top model Manuela Frey, 24. She has been happily dating footballer Guillaume Hoarau, 37, for a year and the third season of her TV show "Switzerland's next Topmodel" has just started. There, Frey presents herself as an experienced model mum in the search for young talents and supports her pupils in word and deed. But compared to the real modelling job, this is nothing, says the 24-year-old in the SRF social magazine "Gesichter und Geschichten","there they just look you in the face and say 'thank you, bye, we don't want you', you have to cope with that".

Frey herself has started to see the modelling business a bit, as she confesses to presenter Nicole Berchtold: "I've been doing it for nine years now and I still like it, it's always been a dream job of mine. But of course, I know I can't do it until I'm forty. At some point you just have it in your blood and you know exactly: I'm going to this shoot and do a few poses."

Already started at the age of 15

Frey started her modelling career after winning the "Elite Model Look" at the tender age of 15 and is now right at the top. A lot has changed in recent years, the Aargauerin sums up. "In the past, you had to start young so that you could have a long, steep career, but today it's okay if you don't start modelling until you're 22, because people are more interested in personalities and want to know what else you do in life - whether you study psychology or make music. Clients are more interested in you."

In the meantime, Frey has given up her flat in New York - and she will not be at this year's Fashion Week either. However, Frey does not want to give up her career on the catwalk. She's just putting out some feelers. "I fell in love with Switzerland all over again, I left very young and really grew up in New York. It was a cool time, I got to experience a lot. But now I'm a woman and I want to look more into the future. But I won't stop modelling, don't worry!" Frey, who has also trained as a nutritionist and real estate agent, sees her future mainly in show business. "I like to talk and I like to entertain. Presenting more, that's what I'm interested in."

First public appearance as lovers: Manuela Frey (3rd from right) and Guillaume Hoarau (2nd from right) at this year's Swiss Diversity Awards in Bern.Florian Mo/Swiss Diversity Awards

Frey is still reticent about his love for YB legend Hoarau. "I usually always wait and don't go to the press to make a statement in the first two months, but I thought it's been over a year now and something more serious than before."

She doesn't reveal much more, including how and where the two met. Are there already plans to move in together? "I'm often with him in Sion and in Zurich for work. But I'm used to travelling with two suitcases from modelling."

Sir Mary and Alliance provide a celebrity role reversal

Allianz Suisse is the main sponsor of the Swiss Diversity Awards. The insurer is also committed to inclusion far away from the diversity campaign. Its diversity projects in the workplace range from its own LGBTIQ+ networks to the inclusion of people with disabilities and career support for female talent.

50 years after the introduction of women's suffrage, Allianz Suisse would like to know what the situation is with gender equality in everyday life. Does the so-called women's or men's bonus still exist? Are more competences attributed to the other gender in certain areas?

With the help of voice distortion technology, a recording studio and around three dozen phone calls, Allianz and Sir Mary got to the bottom of this question. The agency found the perfect protagonists in presenters Melanie Winiger and Marco Fritsche, as both like to break with traditional gender roles anyway.

The result is a good six-minute mix of entertainment and awareness-raising, which is intended to make an important area of Allianz Suisse's existing diversity commitment tangible for the network community.

Role reversal of a different kind

Driven by the question of how it feels to be perceived as the opposite sex, the protagonists went through three different challenges with a voice distortion device. The tasks were based on common female and male stereotypes in the areas of humour, patience and competence. Among other things, the two had to test which gender made the people on the other end of the line laugh faster. The trick: the moderators themselves did not know whether they were conducting the conversation in a male or female voice. In eight out of ten cases, Winiger and Fritsche were unable to determine the reactions to their calls by gender. "It was surprising for me because I had taken one or two preconceived opinions into the experiment," they concluded.

Innovative technology and relaxed narrative form

Filming took place in the heart of Zurich at Jingle Jungle, whose sound studio was quickly converted into a TV studio and equipped with the appropriate technology. Live, minimalist setting, without script and real reactions was the motto. Sir Mary's approach was to present content in an unagitated and documentary-like way.

Nani Nold, Diversity, Inclusive & Work Well Manager at Allianz Suisse sees the advantages in this kind of agenda setting for gender issues: "Even today, gender inequality is still relevant and equal opportunities in work and everyday life should be on our agenda. With the experiment, we address the topic in an authentic and entertaining way and raise awareness."

Allianz's commitment to diversity

Allianz Suisse is the main sponsor of the Swiss Diversity Awards. The insurer is also committed to inclusion far away from the diversity campaign. Its diversity projects in the workplace range from its own LGBTIQ+ networks and the inclusion of people with disabilities to career support for female talent. The insurer was even awarded the "Edge Asses" label for its commitment to gender equality.

"For decades, Coca-Cola has championed diversity and inclusion through iconic advertising campaigns. There is a global Diversity and Inclusion Group, we are a proud partner of World Pride and in Switzerland we have been a partner of the Swiss Diversity Awards together with Coca-Cola HBC since the beginning."

"Companies should reflect the diversity of society," says Michael Willeke, Integrated Marketing Experience Director for Coca-Cola Europe. (Image: Coca-Cola/Gero Breloer)

MR. WILLEKE, WHAT DOES DIVERSITY MEAN TO YOU?
For
me personally, the term stands for a principle: that every person is valued and accepted, regardless of individual differences, lifestyles or attitudes. That we can lead our lives exactly as we wish and would like to.

HOW CLOSE IS OUR SOCIETY TO THIS IDEAL?
We
have made great strides in Europe and other western countries. Liberalization took place, which led to more openness and tolerance and enabled ways of life that were previously unacceptable or even forbidden. We should consistently continue on this path and continue to work actively for a diverse and inclusive culture in which the differences between us humans are seen as an opportunity. This applies equally to society and to a company.

WHAT CAN A COMPANY LIKE COCA-COLA DO TO PROMOTE THIS IDEAL?
The
company is a place where different people can come together and realize ideas and projects together. A company should value this diversity, because the different backgrounds, perspectives and ways of thinking allow us all and the company to learn and grow. At Coca-Cola, we have a global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy that encapsulates how together we can create a better future for all, create equal opportunities and bring people together at work and in society.

"Coca-Cola is a brand that is more than 135 years old and has always stood for diversity".

TO WHAT EXTENT IS THIS A REALITY AT COCA-COLA TODAY?
Coca-Cola
is a brand that is more than 135 years old and has always stood for, even symbolized, diversity. For decades, our brand has stood for promoting social change with inclusive messages and creating awareness for equal opportunities, acceptance and respect. This often required a lot of courage. The company was already supporting the causes of the Martin Luther King movement during the American civil rights movement in the 1960s, for example with the famous advertising poster "Boys on a Bench" with young people of different skin colours sitting together on a bench and drinking Coca-Cola.

A LOT OF TIME HAS PASSED SINCE THEN. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY?
As
already mentioned, inclusion has a long tradition at Coca-Cola and is an important part of the company and its employees. Our commitment goes far beyond marketing and communication. We were one of the first companies to appoint a woman to our board of directors and had a "woman of colour" as a brand ambassador as early as 1955. The Rainbow network has been in existence in Germany since 2014 and supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees. There is a global Diversity and Inclusion Group, we are a proud partner of World Pride and in Switzerland we have been a partner of the Swiss Diversity Awards together with Coca-Cola HBC from the very beginning. But the same applies to us as to society: We have achieved a lot, but have not yet reached our goal.

TO WHAT EXTENT CAN A COMPANY BE A PIONEER OF CHANGE? OR IS IT ONLY REACTING TO CHANGES IN SOCIETY?
Proximity
to society is very important for the success of a company, because it is part of it. We at Coca-Cola have always done this very well. But, and I think this is very important: the fact that we are committed to diversity within the company and in public is not a reaction to a trend. Rather, it was and is a core part of our brand that is currently receiving a lot of attention.

"Inclusive communication has become an integral part of modern corporate life and we communication agencies must contribute to raising awareness among companies," says Bühler.

In addition to the communication around the declaration, Ferris Bühler Communications is also responsible for the accompanying communication of other measures to which Swiss Diversity has committed itself: The introduction of a Swiss Diversity certification for companies is the first step towards continuing to shape Switzerland as a place of diversity. The agency will also be part of the certification process with a communication workshop.

"The certification is intended as an incentive for companies to develop and position themselves steadily and holistically in several areas of diversity and inclusion," explains Simone Müller-Staubli, co-founder of the Swiss Diversity Platform. "Switzerland has not yet developed its potential."

Even in 2022, there are strong distinctions based on gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnic origin, nationality and social background. At the Swiss Diversity Think Tank, personalities from business, politics, culture and science met and wrote concrete goals for a better future.

"We are convinced that the exchange on the topic of diversity will help society, but also the economy," says Hans-Peter Nehmer, Head of Corporate Communications & Sustainability at Allianz Suisse Versicherungsgesellschaft AG.

Companies can apply for the certificate

"Employees with different backgrounds have a positive impact on the innovative capacity of companies and thus on their business success," Nehmer continues. Companies can apply for a Swiss Diversity Certificate. Further measures are to follow.

Diversity and inclusion in Switzerland are still issues that need to be addressed in 2022. Because there are still strong distinctions based on gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnic origin and nationality, religion and world view, impairment as well as social origin. The Swiss Diversity Think Tank, which took place for the first time in Bern, is the first think tank with personalities from business, politics, culture, society, religion and science who are committed to a better future with concrete goals and measures.

A declaration for diversity and inclusion

On the occasion of the first "Swiss Diversity Think Tank" on Monday, 21 March 2022, well-known personalities met: The swinger Curdin Orlik, Bern's mayor Alec von Graffenried, General Manager Estée Lauder Switzerland Maike Kiessling and the Swiss model Manuela Frey worked together with the initiators Michel Rudin, Christoph Stuehn and Christiane Bisanzio on the "Declaration of Diversity and Inclusion in Switzerland" and adopted it. "In order for Switzerland to become a place of diversity in the future, we have to implement all the different categories of diversity and inclusion in our society, recognise their development potential and put it into practice," says the vice-president of "Swiss Diversity", Michel Rudin.

Well-known Swiss opinion leaders commit themselves to the following

After the Mayor of Bern, Alec von Graffenried, had welcomed the representatives and initiators, short, inspiring words followed from them. Christoph Stuehn, initiator and vice-director of the Kunsthaus Zürich, said: "Diversity and inclusion must also play an even more important role in culture and in our culture - as a mirror of our society and a friction surface for the examination of our human existence. And so different perspectives came together, including those from the cultural sector. But representatives from business, politics, society and science were also present. By signing the "Declaration of Diversity and Inclusion in Switzerland", all those present agreed to be an official mouthpiece in their sector. They thus stand with their name for the promotion of diversity and inclusion in Switzerland.

Big, bigger, biggest: the visions of the think tank

After the ceremonial signing of the declaration, the participants withdrew again to work out and record the individual goals and measures of each person. Hans-Peter Nehmer, Head of Corporate Communications & Sustainability at Allianz Suisse Versicherungs-Gesellschaft AG, said: "We are convinced that the exchange on the topic of diversity not only advances society, but also the economy. Employees with different backgrounds have a positive effect on the innovative capacity of companies and thus on their business success.

Swinger Curdin Orlik wants to "normalise homosexuality in sport" and Daniela Frau, Diversity Manager at the ZHAW SML, wants to ensure that "there is a more intensive exchange between students and companies to promote diversity and inclusion". In addition to the individual goals, the initiators Michel Rudin, Simone Müller-Staubli and Stephan Lendi will also initiate measures relevant to society and companies in the name of the "Swiss Diversity Think Tank".

New Diversity Certificate

The first is the development of a Swiss Diversity Certificate for which companies can apply. "The aim is to create an incentive for companies to constantly and holistically develop and position themselves in several areas of diversity and inclusion," explains Simone Müller-Staubli, Co-Founder of the Swiss Diversity Platform. "It is important to us to directly involve Swiss society in shaping our future and our coexistence. That's why we want to launch an annual online petition that will enable thousands of people to have their say and make decisions on the seven core issues," says Michel Rudin, Co-Founder of the Swiss Diversity Platform.

30 representatives from politics, business, culture and sport signed a declaration in Bern for a future with more diversity and inclusion. Among them: swinger Curdin Orlik and the EuroGames Bern association.

With a declaration for diversity and inclusion, companies and organisations want to work for a more equal Switzerland. 30 personalities took part in the first "Swiss Diversity Think Tank" on 21 March, which aims to promote diversity in areas such as gender, sexual orientation, age or ethnic origin and nationality. Curdin Orlik, who celebrated his coming out as the first professional swinger in 2020, and the EuroGames Bern association represented the LGBTIQ community.

After an opening speech by the Mayor of Bern, Alec von Graffenried, the participants discussed the issues and challenges they face in their daily work in the field of diversity and inclusion. With a ceremonial signing of the declaration, the representatives committed themselves to promoting diversity in their field of activity as best as possible and to creating greater equality of opportunity.

Curdin Orlik emphasised that he would like to "normalise homosexuality in sport". For Greg Zwygart, Head of Sport at EuroGames Bern 2023, it is role models like Orlik who contribute to a rethink in society. "Queer people are not visible enough in sport," he says. Some sports exclude people because of their gender identity. In other sports, there is a hostile climate that causes athletes to hide or even repress their sexuality. "The EuroGames Bern 2023 will make queer athletes visible and reduce prejudice," says Zwygart. The EuroGames are Europe's largest LGBTIQ sporting event and will come to the federal city from 26 to 29 July 2023(MANNSCHAFT reported). Sports such as badminton, volleyball, dance and football are planned, open to all levels.

With Estée Lauder, Swisscom and Coca-Cola, large companies were also present at the "Swiss Diversity Think Tank". "We are convinced that the exchange on the topic of diversity helps society, but also the economy," says Hans-Peter Nehmer, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Allianz Suisse, "Employees with different backgrounds have a positive effect on the innovative capacity of companies and thus on their business success.

Behind the organisation of the "Swiss Diversity Think Tank" is the platform Swiss Diversity, which also organises the "Swiss Diversity Award Night" every September. The founders include Stephan Lendi, Simone Müller-Staubli and Michel Rudin, Co-President of Pink Cross.

Another project of Swiss Diversity is the development of a certificate to reward companies for their commitment to diversity and inclusion. "This is intended to create an incentive for companies to constantly and holistically develop and position themselves in several areas of diversity and inclusion," explained Simone Müller-Staubli.

With the Swiss LGBTI Label, a certificate already exists that distinguishes companies in their dealings with LGBTIQ workers. In June 2021, 18 companies and organisations received the label(MANNSCHAFT reported).

Invitation - Think Tank with Swiss Personalities: Signing of the 1

Declaration for Diversity and Inclusion in Switzerland. (2022). Press portal: Ferris BühlerCommunications.

Switzerland is a country with unique diversity, which even in 2022 cannot be lived freely by everyone and whose potential has not yet been properly exploited. With the creation of a Swiss Diversity Platform, the initiators Michel Rudin, Stephan Lendi and Simone Müller-Staubli are working for better inclusion.

The initiative is broadly supported by personalities from business, politics, culture, society and science. The Swiss Diversity Think Tank will also be held for the first time: A think tank for a constructive exchange on the opportunities and challenges of diversity in Switzerland. By jointly signing the declaration, they are developing a common vision of how diversity and inclusion can be developed in everyday life and in the business world.

We would like to invite you to be present immediately after the development of the vision when opinion leaders officially sign the "Declaration of Diversity and Inclusion in Switzerland" and thus publicly commit to diversity.

Afterwards, the participants and responsible persons will be available for interviews.

  • Date: Monday, 21. March 2022
  • Time: 17:15 - 17:45
  • Venue: Haus der Universität Bern (Schlösslistrasse 5, 3008 Bern)
  • Online: Zoom link (follows upon accreditation)
  • Procedure: Workshops will be held in which the participants will work out concrete goals and measures. Afterwards, the first signing of the "Declaration of Diversity and Inclusion in Switzerland" will take place in the plenary from 17:15 to 17:45.

Among them are 26 influential personalities with know-how and passion in the field of diversity and inclusion, such as swinger Curdin Orlik, Bernese mayor Alec von Graffenried, general manager of Estée Lauder Switzerland Maike Kiessling or Swiss model Manuela Frey, who, together with the initiators Michel Rudin, Christoph Stühn and Christiane Bisanzio, are heralding a new era for diversity and inclusion. You can find the complete list of participants here.

"To implement diversity and inclusion, it takes all people pulling in the same direction from different perspectives - because I am convinced that living diversity has a positive impact on Swiss society," says Michel Rudin, Co-Founder Swiss Diversity Platform.

Swiss Diversity campaigns for more diversity and better inclusion in Switzerland. The storytelling agency Ferris Bühler Communications is also committed to this goal and works together with the platform to make the organisation's messages and measures known to a broad public. To kick off the cooperation, agency owner Ferris Bühler signed the "Declaration of Diversity and Inclusion in Switzerland", which was drawn up on Monday in a workshop in Bern with around 30 participants.

"Inclusive communication is an integral part of modern corporate life and we communication agencies must contribute to raising awareness among companies," agency owner Ferris Bühler is quoted as saying in a press release. In addition to Bühler, other workshop participants signed the declaration, such as Estée Lauder Switzerland, Allianz Suisse, Coca-Cola Switzerland and the Zurich Kunsthaus, but also personalities such as swinger Curdin Orlik, Bern's mayor Alec von Graffenried and Swiss model Manuela Frey.

A certification for companies

In addition to the communication around the declaration, Ferris Bühler Communications is also responsible for the accompanying communication of other measures to which Swiss Diversity has committed itself: The introduction of a Swiss Diversity certification for companies is the first step towards continuing to shape Switzerland as a place of diversity.

"The certification is intended as an incentive for companies to develop and position themselves steadily and holistically in several areas of diversity and inclusion," says Simone Müller-Staubli, co-founder of the Swiss Diversity Platform. Ferris Bühler Communications will also be part of the certification process for the companies with a communication workshop.

"Thanks to the communicative support and the media network and know-how of Ferris Bühler Communications, we are able to carry our messages into the Swiss economy and society and change behaviour in internal and external everyday business. Switzerland has not yet unleashed its potential," says Müller-Staubli.
